3.1 introductions of computer systems

Questions:
1. What is the tower? - What does it look like? - What is its function?
A: computer tower is the main part of the computer. It is the part that contains the motherboard, power supply, cd/floppy/dvd or any other drives or parts. - The motherboard is the part of your computer that wires all of the other parts together.

2. What is RAM? - What does it look like? - What is its function? - What does RAM stand for?
A: Ram is abbreviation of Random Access Memory, a virtual memory to store data temporarily

3. What is a Hard Drive? - What does it look like? - What is its function?
A: fundamental part of modern computers. The hard drive is where all of your programs and files are stored, so if the drive is damaged for some reason, you will lose everything on your computer

4. What is a DVD and DVD drive? - What do they look like? - What is their function?
A: DVD, also known as Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc, is an optical disc storage media format. Its main uses are video and data storage.

5. What is a ethernet cable? - What does it look like? - What is its function?
A: Ethernet cables connect network devices such as modems, routers, and adapters. They transmit data using the Ethernet protocol.

6. What is a motherboard? - What does it look like? - What is its function?
A: The motherboard serves to connect all of the parts of a computer together. The CPU, memory, hard drives, optical drives, video card, sound card and other ports and expansion cards all connect to the motherboard directly or via cables. The motherboard can be thought of as the "back bone" of the computer.

7. What is an IDE and SATA cable? - What do they look like? - What is their function?
A: IDE: IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) is a standard electronic interface used between a computer motherboard's data paths or bus and the computer's disk storage devices.
SATA:Serial ATA (SATA) is a computer bus interface for connecting host bus adapters to mas storage devices such as hard disk drives and optical drives. Serial ATA was designed to replace the older ATA (AT Attachment) standard (also known as EIDE).

8. What is USB? - What does it look like? - What is its function? - What does USB stand for?

A: Short for Universal Serial Bus, an external bus standard that supports data transfer rates of 12 Mbps. A single USB port can be used to connect up to 127 peripheral devices, such as mice, modems, and keyboards. USB also supports Plug-and-Play installation and hot plugging.

9. What is a video card? - What does it look like? - What is its function?
A: The video card is an expansion card that allows the computer to send graphical information to a video display device such as a monitor or projector.

10. What is a PCI card? - What does it look like? - What is its function? What does PCI stand for?
A: is a computer bus for attaching hardware devices in a computer. These devices can take either the form of an integrated circuit fitted onto the motherboard itself, called a planar device in the PCI specification, or an expansion card that fits into a slot
